Katie & Mike – Fixtures, Finishes, & Furnishings

August 17, 2011

As some of you may know we just finished our first project in NYC! This is the second remote redesign project we’ve completed – the first was in Boston and we’re getting ready to start another in Tampa. While we LOVE getting to meet our clients in person, the remote redesign process really tests our creativity and design skills in different ways.

Katie & Mike contacted us after hearing about our work from another client (referrals are the best). They were just getting ready to purchase their first place together – a beautiful two bedroom Manhattan apartment. The new construction project gave them a great blank slate to really make it their own. We worked with them on design plans for the living, dining, and foyer areas.

Inspired by their traditional East Coast background but love for a more modern aesthetic, we worked to create spaces that seamlessly integrated the two styles. Pulling influences from both the traditional and modern will help make the home feel more lived-in and less like a showroom. An eclectic mix of finishes, colors, and textures adds to the sophisticated – yet fun – design. A classic color palette of blue and brown is invigorated with pops of yellow for a modern twist. We really wanted the rooms to feel “grown-up” while also maintaining an exciting, young energy.

If you’d like more information on any of the products we featured in this project or would like to know more about our remote redesign services feel free to leave us a comment here our shoot us an email we always enjoy hearing from you!

This design is so striking and sophisticated. Wow… I am in love with the rich navy tones and contrasting sharp whites. My favs are the rug, navy sofa, wing back chair, and the wine glass holder. I imagine your client was tickled with the design plan. Congrats, r:u !!!
