An Art-Filled Arlington Apartment, part 3

January 6, 2011

This is a follow-up to our continually unfolding saga about An Art-Filled Arlington Apartment. Work has been progressing at an amazing pace. The kitchen is finished, the fireplace is clad in stone, most of the furniture has been purchased, and the AMAZING hardwood floors have been installed.

Laura and Lamar liked our design for their living room so much that they decided to have us design the rest of their apartment. When the total package is done, we will have some great pictures to share!

I want to take a minute to showcase two pieces that we are using in their space which are truly one-of-a-kind.

First, we reached out to Structured Green, specifying their Weave Credenza to anchor the space. It is remarkable, made from scraps from FSC Certified wood. You can’t get any greener than using waste product from an already sustainable source!

Next, we wanted a special piece for their entryway. We fell in love with the clean lines of a console table designed by our friend Kaleo Kala (KALA Studios).

Laura had a koa wood table that a friend had given her many years ago that she wanted to use in some way, but the style was dated.

When we mentioned this to Kaleo–who is a Hawaiian native, just like koa–he was chomping at the bit to get his hands on the table.

He was able to reuse most of the wood from Laura’s old table for her new console.

I can’t wait to see the finished product. The table is going to look fantastic.
