our core concepts: honesty & integrity

March 23, 2010

This is the second in a five-part blog series, illustrating the core concepts that have become the foundation of residents:understood. Part two illustrates the core concept of: HONESTY and INTEGRITY.

We do not sell products; we provide services. As such, we will never push you to purchase anything you do not love. We represent YOU, ensuring that your home truly reflects your style and taste while also fully accommodating your lifestyle needs. We will pass on any potential designer discounts or savings we receive for furnishings to you.

When Kiera and I sat down over that bottle of merlot, dreaming of what is now residents:understood, we discussed how there is a lot of mystery surrounding hiring a designer. Many people assume that design is a luxury and often don’t consider the possibility of working with a professional to design their own home. We wanted to break down the barriers and make design accessible to all, similar to how IKEA brought value to stylish modern furniture. One of the keys to demystifying design was to be upfront with the costs.

When you hire us to redesign your space, you will know upfront how much our services will cost because we have a flat-rate fee structure based on the size of your space. Relating back to our goal of demystifying residential design, we wanted to show you the step-by-step process involved in making your design a reality:

Finally, we are each Allied Members of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). ASID has a Code of Ethics & Professional Conduct which we adhere to: http://www.asid.org/about/ethics/default.htm.

Check back soon for our next post on our core concept of personalized design where we will break-down the creation of a u:board!
